Yesterday as part of our "kick-off" to our Building Unit in Science, we had students from the CTF Group come in and do a STEM challenge with the students. They were to work together to build a tall structure.
The students had a blast!

Oh my goodness! Where did January go? We were very busy learning about the beginning, middle and end of stories, our 5 Senses in Science, and Measuring using non-standard units (such as our hand span, foot length) in Math. For a Service Project, we did chores to earn money to support a retreat created for unemployed people at the FCJ centre, and made Rosaries in our BFG groups.
Below are some pictures with our Rosaries, and doing Data collection during our Groundhog Day Activities.
In early October log-in information came home for Raz-Kids. I am resending this information in case you can't find your copy, so that your child can access this resource from home.
In the next few weeks another log-in card will come for Mathseeds. Our school is piloting this great program for CSSD. This is by the same company that created Mathletics. Keep tuned!

The students are using Two-sided counters to generate addition sentences. They later used Ten Frames to show their work another way.

Monday 25 November 2019

Earlier this month, as we were finishing our Colour Unit in Science, we were trying to make rainbows by bending light through prisms. Our Grade 4 friends came to help us make this happen. Enjoy the pictures!.

Mobile Escape - Day 7
Today we tested our Locked Room to make sure people could solve it. Some people were Munchkins waiting to be rescued, while other were "parents". We discovered that when we worked together, and followed the rule of solving the puzzles before trying to open the door, we could solve the code! We rescued the Munchkins!

Mobile Escape - Day 6
Today was our last "Building Day". We put finishing touches on all the work, and will test our room tomorrow. We hope you can come and try our room out!
PS - The Grade 1 students are asked to wear "Rainbow" clothes for the evening!
